Another CBD store has opened in Central Texas, this time in Hewitt.
Saturday was the first day customers could buy cannabidiol products from Your CBD Store in Hewitt.
CBD is a marijuana extract that has been credited for its potential medicinal uses.
Kimberly Tarantino, the shop's owner, said her goal is to fight the opioid crisis by providing CBD as an alternative to customers who do not want to risk the side effects of pharmaceutical medication.
"A lot of people were intuitive about having this product here," Tarantino said. "They were buying it online or shipping it from Colorado, we really felt like the community wanted this store here. So, we made it happen."
The shop is located at 909 Hewitt Dr. and is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays.
Tarantino said she hopes to open a store in downtown Waco soon.
