Burn ban issued for Coryell County

The burn ban will expire in 60 days unless extended by the county commissioner's court.

CORYELL COUNTY, Texas — A burn ban has been instated for Coryell County by the county commissioner's court.

Other counties around Central Texas have also issued burn bans as of late. McLennan County issued a burn ban on Aug. 7, with Freestone and San Saba counties following up with their own burn bans just a week after. Bell and Lampasas Counties also issued their own respective burn bans shortly after.

According to the Texas A&M Forest Service, a significant number of counties throughout Texas have issued burn bans, but some larger cities located on the eastern part of the state like Houston, Dallas, Tyler, and Bryan-College Station have not had burn bans issued in their respective counties.

Back in Central Texas, the majority of counties in the area are under a burn ban, barring Williamson, Bosque, Milam, Hamilton, and Burnet counties.
