BUCKHOLTS, Texas — Buckholts community members are planning protests in response to the school district's decision to not renew the contracts of several teachers and administrators.
A first protest is planned Monday, April 27 at 6 p.m. in the elementary school parking lot, ahead of the school board's meeting. More protests are planned for Tuesday and Wednesday.
The protests were planned after 6 News reported that five employees of the Buckholts Independent School District were told their contracts would not be renewed, according to multiple sources who did not want to be identified.
The employees include Principal Kris Shaver, Athletic Director James Shelton, and two teachers, Kimera Turrubiarte and Maggie Murphy, according to the sources.
The school board voted to approve the non-renewals on Monday, April.
