Temple Police Department offering another giveaway of steering wheel locks to Kia and Hyundai owners

The locks are designed to prevent thefts after an increase in thefts of Kia and Hyundai vehicles.

TEMPLE, Texas — Editor's note: The video attached above was aired during a previous giveaway

Do you drive a Kia or Hyundai? The Temple Police Department is offering free steering wheel locks for drivers in an attempt to combat theft.

Temple PD said they are offering the locks due to a recent increase in thefts of Kia and Hyundai model vehicles.

To receive a complimentary steering wheel lock, Temple PD said residents can visit the Temple Police Department lobby, located at 209 E Avenue A in Temple, and provide proof of Temple residency and ownership of a Kia or Hyundai vehicle while supplies last.

The Temple Police Department previously held a steering wheel lock giveaway in November 2023, and the Copperas Cove Police Department held a similar giveaway in January 2024.

The steering wheel lock is a metal rod that connects to the steering wheel to prevent it from turning and will only unlock with a designated key.
