Weather Aware: Severe Thunderstorm Watches issued for several Central Texas counties

Severe hail and gusty winds are possible Tuesday night as the severe weather threat continues.

TEMPLE, Texas — A Severe Thunderstorm Watch was issued for several Central Texas counties until 11 p.m. Tuesday. These counties include: Bell, Burnet, Coryell, Falls, Lampasas, McLennan, Milam, Mills and San Saba.

Earlier, the Central Texas area was issued a Flash Flood Warning. Areas like Belton saw some areas where water levels were high enough and almost as tall as a normal stop sign.

As of 11:40 a.m., some of the area rainfall totals look like this: 

  • Temple: 6.21"
  • Troy: 5.63"
  • Stillhouse Lake: 4.6"
  • Waco: .78"

Severe hail and gusty winds are possible Tuesday night as the severe weather threat continues with most weather models showing thunderstorms into the 11 p.m. to midnight timeframe. Any tornado threats diminishes later into the night
