LITTLE RIVER-ACADEMY, Texas — Sometimes you have to learn a big lesson so you can apply the lesson when the time comes and that is exactly what Little River Academy's, Jayvion White, did last week Friday.
The junior who plays cornerback and wide receiver did not have his best week in practice as the Bumblebees were preparing to take on McGregor.
"At practice I messed up," said White. "And one of our coaches got on to me. So I really wanted to step up and be a leader."
And that's exactly what he did. White went on to have two interceptions that he returned for a touchdown as well as four big tackles. The plays gave Little River Academy 57-27 win last Friday. It also clinched post season eligibility for the Bumblebees.
White said, "It was great. We got a spot in the playoffs and I'm just happy we made it."
The Bumblebees are now heading to the playoffs for the 5th consecutive year which is the longest active post-season streak in the schools history.
Despite a 2-7 overall record, Little River Academy is ready to prove the record is just a number. Now they just want to show that they are not a team to over look.
White said, "We're just trying to send a message to whoever we play in the playoffs that we are coming."
Little River Academy will take on Cameron-Yoe Friday Night in the final game of the regular season.
