TEMPLE, Texas — The City of Temple Parks & Recreation Department announced that it will be bringing a brand new Petals & Pints festival to Central Texas in 2025.
This comes on the heels of the news that the Bloomin' Temple festival would be cancelled for 2024.
The department posted on Facebook stating, "After careful consideration and great enthusiasm, we've decided to bid farewell to the beloved Bloomin' Temple Festival. This isn't the end, but rather a transformation."
After that announcement, local business were disappointed in the city because of past failed project to help revitalize Downtown Temple.
"Start taking away the growth, and it doesn't even make sense," Charisse Reed, owner of Relics Antics in Downtown Temple explained, "It promotes a lot of restaurants down here that it's going to hurt in my opinion."
Just feet away from the festival location was the Yard Food Truck Plaza.
It was a city investment finalized in 2020 and was an area for the community to eat local.
But the city chose to discontinue the plaza at the start of the year and move into a different direction.
"We ate lunch there quite often and now we don't have that option," Relics Antics employee Gloria Ivey explained. "They taking the festival away so what's the point? Why keep saying you wanna build up the city of Temple and you keep taking things away?"
In Spring 2025, the city of Temple will bring an all-new festival “Petals & Pints" – an event designed to capture the essence of our vibrant community and provide unforgettable experiences.
The department went on to thank the community for its participation in the beloved Bloomin' Temple festival over the years. Specifics of the new festival were not uncovered, but the department says updates will come.
