ROGERS, Texas — The City of Rogers and the Volunteer Fire Department are asking for the community's help as the Carrillo family navigates a recent tragedy.

On Sunday, Dec. 24, a natural gas explosion occurred in a home at 105 W. Gulf St. This led to a fire which resulted in the death of 64-year-old Manuela Carrillo.

Manuela's husband, Fidel Carrillo, suffered severe injuries while attempting to save her from the blaze. He is being treated at a burn center in Dallas.

Four others were in the home at the time of the explosion and they also suffered injuries, but none life threatening.

The Rogers Volunteer Fire Department posted a flyer for an upcoming fundraiser on Sunday, Dec. 31.

The flyer reads the following:

"Join us in supporting the Carrillo family as they navigate the challenging aftermath of a recent explosion. Our collective effort will help cover funeral expenses and support family members currently in the hospital, recovering from burns sustained in the incident."

Starting at 8 a.m., community members can stop by St. Matthew Parish Hall to purchase a breakfast meal. Choices include meñudo, gorditas, barbacoa taco, pancake plate and traditional plate.

This fundraiser will last until they are sold out.

In addition to this fundraiser, the City of Rogers has established a donation fun at Buckholts State Bank at 119 W Mesquite Ave.

"For those willing to contribute, your generous donations would be greatly appreciated," the City of Rogers said in a Facebook post.
