LIST | Resources for cities in Central Texas impacted by tornado

The City of Temple released information on where you can get food, water, hygiene products and shelter.

TEMPLE, Texas — According to the City of Temple, the following departments are assisting with the storm aftermath: The Killeen Police Department, U.S. Marshalls, Bell County Sherriff’s Department, Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Gatesville Police Department, Bell County Emergency Management, and the Texas Division of Emergency Management.

Below is a list of resources in cities that were impacted by Wednesday's severe storms.

TEMPLE

City of Temple established the Temple Recovery Taskforce to connect residents with available resources. Help from the taskforce is free of charge and includes debris removal, home repair and water damage repair.

Shelter:

  • Wilson Recreation Center, 2205 Curtis B. Elliot Dr.
  • Call 254-298-5970 if you need transportation to the shelter

Where you can get food, water, hygiene products, etc.:

  • Baylor Scott & White -- Hygiene kits, blankets and pillows
  • Orphan Grain Train -- Food, water, shelter and bathroom facilities (mobile)
  • Haute Dog (Located @ Bulldog Auto Detailing) -- Free hotdogs, chips and drinks today at Bulldog Detailing on Adams
  • McDonalds in Temple  -- Water bottles, apple slices, juice boxes
  • Martin’s Potato Rolls and Bread -- Bread
  • Catholic Charities of CTX -- HEB gift cards, rental assistance, other financial assistance
  • Lake Belton High School -- Distribution of ice and bottled water and MREs
  • Pactiv -- Food containers, etc.
  • 1st Baptist Church/Salvation Army -- Water and snacks
  • Lupita's Food Truck -- 1st Responders & Volunteers
  • Turley & Associates -- Would like to cook food in West Temple for the people who lost homes
  • Texans On Mission -- Trailer with portable showers
  • Ohare Properties -- Bottled Water, Canned goods
  • ASCO Equipment -- Light towers and generators
  • United Site Services -- Roll offs, portable bathrooms, temporary fencing - unsure of if this is free, but staff working to confirm

The City of Belton opened its Emergency Operations Center, 708 W. Ave. 

Closed as of Thursday, May 23:

GATESVILLE

Chief Lee of the Gatesville Police Department has provided alternative contact numbers for those in need of urgent assistance.

Individuals requiring police, fire, or EMS services are advised to contact the following numbers:

As efforts continue to restore regular phone services, residents are encouraged to utilize the provided contact numbers for any emergencies or assistance needs.

Gas emergencies and leaks: 911

The Texas Division of Emergency Management, or TDEM, urges Texans to report any damage from flooding and storms using their damage assessment report tool. In turn, this helps local, state and federal officials determine disaster assistance eligibility and resource needs.

The tool is called iSTAT (Individual State of Texas Assessment Tool) and it only takes three minutes or less to report damage and is available in both English and Spanish.

U-Haul of North Austin is making seven facilities available to provide 30 days of free self-storage and U-Box container usage to those impacted by the storms in Temple. Those who would like to utilize the resource should contact their nearest U-Haul location.
