KILLEEN, Texas — Killeen residents have the opportunity to take security across the city into their own hands.
The Killeen Police Department recently made an agreement with a company that specializes in integrating cameras across multiple locations. Fusus, Killeen PD's newest partner, is often used by law enforcement agencies to synchronize city-wide cameras in the fight against crime.
By registering your security camera - whether it be front door, backyard or somewhere else - you can assist Killeen PD in solving crimes that happen on or near your property. Residents can register or learn more about the latest development on KPD Connect's website.
Once registered, the police department will be made aware that a camera is present at your location and it will be added to a database. Killeen PD will not access your camera unless an investigation requires detectives to do so. A KPD investigator will contact you via email at such a time.
Residents can plug in an additional device, CORE, for precautionary safety measures. CORE will provide direct access to your camera feed in case of a nearby emergency, according to KPD's release.
