Innovation Black Chamber of Commerce give back to Killeen community by feeding residents

The group of businesses leaders handed out food in Downtown Killeen, hoping to alleviate the stress of those impacted most by the pandemic.

KILLEEN, Texas — Wednesday, a group of business leaders in Killeen took time out of their day to give back.

"There are 13 businesses who came together to execute what we call A.N.T, which is Action Now Together," Ronnie Russell, president of the Innovation Black Chamber of Commerce in Killeen, said.

Russell and his organization partnered with small businesses owners to feed people in Downtown Killeen, which is an area in much need of revitalization.

"North Killeen is not receiving the same amount of attention as everywhere else,” Russell said. "We are responsible, as well as culturally responsible for what's going on in this area."

Actavian Adams lives in Killeen. He said he was blessed to receive free food Wednesday. He said it is a relief to get more help during this pandemic.

"People are doing a lot to help. It is not about thinking of ourselves anymore. It is thinking of others," Adams said.

Thinking of others is exactly what has given this group the fuel to lend a helping hand.

"If we're actually executing a new norm we have to re-brand how we are engaging in the community," Russell said. If you want to learn more about Innovation Black Chamber of Commerce check out their website.
