KILLEEN, Texas — The Salvation Army Bell County Killeen Family Store will hold a parking lot sale as the store prepares to permanently close its current location.
The closing sale will be held Friday from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. with social distancing practices in place.
The Salvation Army Family Store in Killeen is unable to continue to operate in the current location due to the effects of COVID-19, according to The Salvation Army.
Ideally, the store will be re-opened at a new location, but that location is still to be determined.
“Salvation Army Family Stores are designed to be an additional funding source for the programs and services being offered in that community. However, when the store is no longer contributing in that way, unfortunate and difficult decisions, such as this one, have to be made” Lt. Aaron Millin said.
The pantry and social workers' current office is at the Family Store, so the main priority is to relocate those services to another space so that they can continue while another location is being determined for the retail store.
“It is important that we try and omit any gap in services when it comes to our pantry and other social services. Therefore, we are currently looking for a place that can house our pantry and social worker temporarily. If there is anyone who might be able to assist us by donating space, please let us know,” Millin said.
While customers sho Friday, The Salvation Army will also host its pop-up prayer event at The Salvation Army Family Store in Killeen, 1306 East Rancier Ave. The event will take place from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
