TEMPLE, Texas — A gas leak on the east side of Temple College Main Campus prompted a temporary closure Thursday morning, but officials have confirmed the situation is now under control.

Around 10:30 a.m., construction crews reported a gas leak near the Dell Martin Nursing building. The Temple Fire Department and gas company responded to the scene, and Marvin Felder Drive was immediately closed to both vehicle and foot traffic.

Campus authorities assured students and staff that there was no immediate danger, but advised those in affected buildings to stay indoors as a precaution.

At 11 a.m., crews were still working to cap the leak, and the campus issued an update reiterating the stay-in-place order for buildings on the east side.

By 11:40 a.m., the gas leak was successfully capped, and the campus issued an all-clear, reopening the affected area to normal activity.

There were no injuries. There is no threat to the public.
