MARLIN, Texas — After more than two months of searching, the city of Marlin has finally found its new chief of police.
The city announced Lawrence McCall will take over the department.
"He wants a more active community policing agency, so all those things are where our PD should have been a long time ago," City Manager and Interim Police Chief Cedric Davis Sr. said.
McCall is a Lieutenant at the Dallas County constable office. He will be replacing former police chief Nathan Sodek, who committed suicide while being served a warrant for sexual assault in August.
The city manager also hired Judy Sesk as financial administrator after a forensic audit found possibly more than $1 million missing from city funds.
According to the city, several internal employees were also promoted to administrative roles including a new city secretary, public works administrator, water plant administrator and compliance administrator.
