BELL COUNTY, Texas — A correctional officer working at the Bell County Jail tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Bell County Sheriff's Department.
The officer reportedly contracted the virus through community transmission. This is the only case within the Bell County Sheriff's Department.
Bell County Sheriff Eddy Lange will have a press conference at 1:30 p.m. May 20 to share how the sheriff's department is addressing the situation. Sheriff Lange will be joined by a representative from the Bell County Public Health District and a representative from Baylor Scott and White Hospital.
