House fire in Waco leaves home damaged as investigation continues

Units found flames coming from the back of a house, according to the Waco Fire Department.

WACO, Texas — A house fire in the early morning hours Wednesday has left a home in the 2700 block of Herring Avenue badly damaged.

The fire, which took place not far from an overnight shooting in Waco that left one man dead, was called in by the Waco Police Department after an officer said he went to the door and saw smoke inside the residence.

The Waco Fire Department said fire was visible from the back of the home when they arrived on scene.

The home, vacant at the time of the fire, was under renovation at the time of the blaze and the flames were knocked down within minutes of emergency personnel arriving on scene.

No one was injured and just how the fire started is under investigation this morning.

This story will be updated when we learn new information.
