MARLIN, Texas — All Marlin ISD campuses and facilities will be closed again on Thursday, Jan. 18, due to low water pressure caused by recent winter weather.
As of 5:30 a.m., water pressure at several locations dropped to unacceptable levels, making it impossible to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. While maintenance teams are actively working on repairs, full restoration is expected to take time.
The district will provide updates throughout the day and communicate plans for Friday, Jan. 19, as soon as clarity on the water pressure situation is achieved.
Marlin ISD Superintendent Dr. Darryl Henson made the following statement on Jan. 18:
As of yesterday, the City of Marlin began experiencing a widespread water outage. As a result, all Marlin ISD schools & facilities were closed today, Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. Without reliable access to water, we cannot ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for our school community.
Our district operations team will continue to monitor the situation closely and I will provide an update by 9:00 p.m. regarding the status of school on Thursday, January 18, 2024.
We will communicate this information through our Facebook page, automated phone calls, and email.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your campus administrator or myself if you have any questions or concerns.
