Marlin ISD cancels classes Wednesday due to weather-related water supply issue

The school district made the announcement on Facebook on Wednesday morning.

MARLIN, Texas — In response to a water supply issue stemming from recent weather conditions, Marlin Independent School District announced the closure of all schools on Wednesday, Jan. 17.

The school district says it will continue to monitor the situation, providing updates when possible.

Marlin ISD Superintendent Dr. Darryl Henson made the following statement:

As of yesterday, the City of Marlin began experiencing a widespread water outage. As a result, all Marlin ISD schools & facilities were closed today, Wednesday, January 17, 2024.

The safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families is our top priority. Without reliable access to water, we cannot ensure a safe and healthy learning environment for our school community.

Our district operations team will continue to monitor the situation closely and I will provide an update by 9:00 p.m. regarding the status of school on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

We will communicate this information through our Facebook page, automated phone calls, and email.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this time. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your campus administrator or myself if you have any questions or concerns.
