Man dead from motorcycle crash in Clifton was wanted for threatening neighbor with gun in Dallas area

Police say Adam Dickerson was wanted by Farmers Branch PD in the Dallas area for threatening his neighbor with a gun while children were present.

CLIFTON, Texas — Additional details have emerged behind the pursuit and fatal crash that claimed a man's life in Clifton on Friday, Sept. 6.

Editor's Note: The attached video aired on Sept. 9.

According to the Clifton Police Department and Clifton Police Chief Chris Blanton, the man that began the high-speed pursuit in Valley Mills was wanted for threatening his neighbor in his front yard with a gun while there were children present in the North Texas area.

While the Farmers Branch Police Department ultimately issued a warrant for his arrest, Clifton PD says the report hadn't been entered into a statewide system that would give police officers and departments further background about the person they would be looking to arrest.

Clifton Police Chief Chris Blanton said during the initial report of the crash and in an update on Monday that after reviewing body camera footage and conducting an internal investigation that the officer that handled the pursuit followed Clifton PD policy throughout the chase.

"These types of pursuits are never "safe" and it is tragic that a life was lost," Chief Blanton said in a statement on Monday. "However, this subject knew the risks and willingly ran from law enforcement, more than likely being aware that a warrant was imminent for his arrest. I appreciate the hard work of my officers."
