Driver of yellow 'crotch rocket' motorcycle dies after high-speed pursuit crash in Bosque County

Despite Clifton Police officers and Bosque County Sheriff's Office deputies attempting to save the man's life, he died at the scene of the crash.

CLIFTON, Bosque County — A man is dead after a high-speed pursuit that began in Valley Mills and ended in Bosque County.

According to the Clifton Police Department, on Friday, Sept. 6, they were notified that officers from the Valley Mills Police Department were pursuing a suspect on a yellow "crotch rocket" motorcycle that had reportedly been driving recklessly.

As the driver of the motorcycle entered Clifton city limits, he was recorded going around 100 mph. Clifton PD joined the pursuit of the driver alongside Valley Mills PD and the chase continued as the driver turned on FM 219 towards the Gap.

Clifton PD says they are fortunate that very little to no other traffic was out when the pursuit was ongoing, and that there was no threat to other drivers.

While the driver of the motorcycle was taking a curve, he lost control and crashed near County Road 4240. Despite Clifton Police officers and Bosque County Sheriff's Office deputies attempting to save the man's life, he was pronounced dead at the scene of his crash as a result of his injuries.

Police say next of kin has been notified and DPS is investigating the crash.

Clifton Police Chief Chris Blanton says that after reviewing body camera footage from the police officers that were involved in the pursuit all policies and procedures of CPD were followed. No officers that were part of the chase were injured.

Chief Blanton also says he isn't sure why the driver fled or what caused him to crash and sends his condolences to the family of the crash victim.
