ROCKDALE, Texas — Frances Valdez, a 69-year-old Rockdale woman, was arrested and charged with the murder of her 25-year-old daughter.
Valdez is being held in jail on a $50,000 bond.
Her daughter, who had down syndrome, died in June 2019. An investigation into the cause of death found that the 25-year-old died of dehydration and an overdose of Tylenol and cough syrup.
Lt. Goodrich with Rockdale police said it appeared as though Valdez was keeping her daughter sedated.
The investigation took nearly a year because officers had to locate family members and neither of the Valdez nor her daughter had social security numbers, Lt. Goodrich told 6 News.
