BOSQUE COUNTY, Texas — An aggravated assault in Clifton late May 7 ended in an auto accident in Johnson County later that night, after a suspect led police on a vehicle chase through Hillsboro and into the neighboring county.
The male suspect, whose identity has not been released, was charged with: Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, terroristic threats, and assault causing bodily injury, according to Clifton Chief of Police Trace Hendricks.
Additional charges are pending by assisting agencies for evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
On May 7, around 9 p.m., a Clifton police officer responded to a domestic disturbance at a house on West 11th Street in Clifton. Upon arriving, Officer Woosley found a female who had "obvious wounds from being assaulted." The victim's son, a minor, was also assaulted, according to Hendricks.
The female victim told Officer Woosley that her boyfriend had assaulted her and held a knife to her while threatening her, before fleeing prior to the officer showing up.
The officer called EMS who later arrived at the house and treated the victims' injuries. The officer was able to get the suspect's name and vehicle information, which was then broadcast to area law enforcement.
Soon after, Whitney police officers saw the suspect's vehicle driving through Whitney and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. At that point, the male suspect fled and initiated a vehicle chase.
The pursuit went through Hillsboro and into Johnson County, near Cleburne. The suspect lost control of the vehicle in Johnson County and crashed.
He was taken into custody and taken to a medical facility for injuries he sustained during the crash.
