CHINA SPRING, Texas — A GoFundMe has been set up for the 38-year-old mother who was brutally attacked and killed in China Spring over the weekend.
On Sept. 21, Michaela Brooker was attacked with a machete and concrete block by Richard Ozment, according to McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara. Brooker was found alive by the police and was taken to the hospital where she later died.
"We are heartbroken to share that our beloved Michaela was tragically taken from us too soon," wrote Mackenzie Prater, the organizer of the GoFundMe. "A victim of a senseless act of violence, she was a cherished mother, daughter, and friend."
The goal has been set at $10,000, which will help cover "unexpected expenses and ensure her family can grieve without worrying," Prater wrote.
"Let’s come together as a community to support her family during this unimaginable time," Prater added.
As of 1:40 p.m., the GoFundMe reached nearly half of its goal.
