CHINA SPRING, Texas — The McLennan County Sheriff's Office confirmed to 6 News that 36-year-old Richard Tanner Ozment was arrested for murdering a 38-year-old woman in the 1500 block of Old China Spring Road on Saturday.
McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara called the murder "brutal and senseless." The girl has not been identified and her age is not yet known, police said.
This news comes after the China Spring Volunteer Fire Department (CSVFD) urged residents to keep a look out for anyone or anything suspicious in the area of Old China Spring Road and Oklahoma Street earlier in the day.
Ozment has a criminal history and is a registered sex offender, this post from the McLennan County Sheriff's Office Facebook documents his arrest in Oct. of 2013.
