WACO, Texas — AllRec Awards In Waco is widely known for their letter jackets and varsity bags. Now, there has been a shift in production.
"If you can get it set up, just call me in and we're happy to come help. It's just the right thing to do," AllRec Awards Owner David Gooch said about helping the community.
AllRec Awards was able to get involved due to a friend in the health care industry. The friends reached out and needed help with additional supplies. David relaid the message to his team, who went right to work on making masks.
"We are very proud of them," Gooch said. "We kept saying, 'We are all in this together.' Everybody coming in and doing their humanitarian side of things to help the cause."
AllRec Awards company is currently working with a skeleton crew who can make about 150 masks per day. Every mask is washable and reusable.
The company makes and distributes the masks to local hospitals, doctors' offices and any business that might need them right now.
"Now that the masks (are) in a little more demand, there's been a little more calls every day saying, 'Hey, I need to get these in my employee's hands,' especially these essential businesses," Gooch said. "We're just kind of muddling through that and doing the best we can and trying to get them in their hands."
We have seen so many businesses across Central Texas step up to make a difference in the fight against COVID-19. It is something that Gooch and his employees take great pride in.
"I'm proud to be a part of our community," Gooch said. "I'm proud of the other businesses that do their part, even if it's just a little bit goes a long way."
