Fire erupts at Marlin's Western Motel

Authorities said all residents were safe and accounted for when crews arrived.

MARLIN, Texas — Another fire broke in Marlin, Texas Friday morning.

Crews immediately reported to the scene at 4:22 a.m. All residents had been accounted for and were safe when they arrived.

21 people were displaced from the Western Motel after it went up in flames. Adults, infants and pets were left on the street, waiting to be rehomed.

Marlin Fire Department, along with police, Oncor and the Lott Fire Department helped to put out the flames.

The American Red Cross is working to rehome every person who was displaced. At this time they will house everyone in local motels across Marlin.

One resident told 6 News that they were already up when they smelled smoke and started banging on everyone's doors to wake them up and get them out.

This is the second fire to strike Marlin in 24 hours.

Thursday morning the Petal Patch Flower Shop downtown went up in flames.

Fire officials have no idea what started either of these fires but they are continuing to investigate both.

One resident did tell 6 News they were happy about the response time of the emergency crews, adding that they worked diligently to douse the flames quickly.
