TEXAS, USA —

A car hit two men on Oct. 11, killing Falls County Deputy Matt Jones and severely injuring Riesel Police Chief Danny Krumnow.

Community members are coming together to help support the families impacted in this tragedy with two separate benefits.

An event is set for Nov. 9 for Krumnow with details still in the works. Live music, gun raffles and food are expected.

If anyone is willing to donate food, tower lights, porta potties, or firewood to help with the cooking please text Tim Pechacek at 254-709-3535. All donations and money are being pulled together, with donations helping to cover what is needed for the event. After the costs of the event are covered, all other proceeds will be given directly to the family.

The second benefit is for Jones. A raffle will take place Oct. 26 as long as at least 250 tickets are sold. If not, the drawing will be rescheduled.

There will be more than $6,000 worth of prizes and tickets are $50 each.

To get physical tickets, call Casey Baessler at 254-218-0706. Payments can also be made electronically through Venmo sent to a @mattjones101119.
