TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Animal Shelter has undergone a significant transformation, emerging as the Heart to Home Animal Adoption Center after renovations.
With a $5 million investment and groundbreaking in Fall 2022, the project aimed to enhance the facility for both animals and visitors.
The expansion includes 40 dog kennels and 21 cat cages, raising the shelter's capacity to 72 dogs and 65 cats. There are also additional outdoor spaces and play areas, such as a dog patio and cat playpen.
City of Temple Mayor Tim Davis expressed the importance of these enhancements, stating, "The expansion will help accommodate the increase of animals brought to the shelter as Temple continues to grow."
The grand reopening of the Heart to Home Animal Adoption Center is scheduled for Jan. 10 at 4 p.m.
Amy Strunk, Animal Shelter Supervisor, expressed excitement about the community experiencing the new facility, noting, "this project has helped us achieve our goal of properly caring for animals as we help them find their forever home.”
