BELTON, Texas — "Make it to the end" is a song dedicated to graduating seniors in light of the pandemic. It opens with piano music and photos of students from their early years to now.
"It all began back in '07," Jaden Rudloff sang.
Rudloff is a Belton High School senior. He said quarantine has given him a lot of time.
Rudloff has seen a lot of things on Facebook from his fellow seniors about the year getting taken away from them. He combined what he has seen on Facebook, the news and how he is feeling and turned it into a song.
"13 years later things are turning gray," Rudloff sang.
Due to the coronavirus, schools across the nation are educating students remotely, which puts big events for graduates in jeopardy.
"There are so many things that we're missing out on that we don't get that normal seniors get," Rudloff said in a phone interview with 6 News.
Throughout the music video are photos of students. Rudloff posted on Facebook and asked for people to send him pictures from kindergarten and 1st grade to senior year. The photos are a combination of students from his time at school in Brownwood, Little River-Academy and his current school in Belton.
"Don't be sad, it's not over yet," Rudloff sang. "Take the isolation as a time to reflect."
He wrote the song for the entire Class of 2020.
"My email is currently flooded with some seniors I've never even talked to," Rudloff said. "They're telling me, 'Thank you so much for what you have done. This song had me in tears.'"
The video ends with a note to the Class of 2020.
"Dear Class of 2020. It's been a long ride and this year may not be the senior year you were hoping for, but I hope we make the best of what we have left. I may not know all of you, but know that I care about every senior out there. Stay safe. Stay strong."
