VALLEY MILLS, Texas — The Valley Mills school system took to Facebook this morning, stating that school would be cancelled until further notice while infrastructure repairs are being made.
According to reports, buildings at both Valley Mills campuses were damaged by last night's severe weather and hailstorm.
"Yesterday's severe hailstorm caused significant damage to the roof and windows, making the school unsafe for students and staff," Valley Mills school officials said. "The safety and well-being of our students and staff are our top priority, and we cannot compromise on that."
Class will resume after the necessary repairs to the building are made to meet safety requirements for faculty, staff and students.
Last night's storm saw golf-ball sized hail cause severe damage across Central Texas, shattering home windows and vehicle sunroofs.
Valley Mills ISD thanks parents and students for their understanding during this time.
