MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — Severe storms rolled through Central Texas overnight into Easter morning leaving behind a path of destruction.

Trees fell on homes in Mart, Robinson, Mexia and several other parts of McLennan and Limestone counties.

Power lines were also knocked down across the area, leaving thousands without power.

The powerful winds rolled through before 6 a.m. Sunday.

The National Weather Service will assess the damage to determine if it was caused by straight line winds or a tornado.

The area was under multiple tornado warnings from about 5:45 a.m. to 7 a.m.

6 News Meteorologist Zac Scott said the storms may have produced brief tornadoes and straight-line winds in excess of 60 mph.
