MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — McLennan County has issued a Declaration of Disaster on May 3 as severe weather continues in the area.
According to the declaration, the county has suffered "widespread or severe damage, injury or loss of life or property" due to recent storms, and an "imminent threat" continues of continuous rain and thunderstorms with the potential to cause flooding and road failures.
Due to the conditions, the judge of McLennan County has determined that "extraordinary measures" must be taken to protect people and property, said the declaration.
The declaration took effect immediately after its issuance on May 3, said the County. According to the County, the state of disaster shall continue for no more than seven days unless continued by the Commissioners Court of McLennan County.
The declaration activates the McLennan County Emergency Management Plan.
