According to the 6 News Weather Team, multiple rounds of severe storms are expected to make their way through Central Texas beginning late Wednesday afternoon.
Some light showers can be expected in the morning hours of the day, but around 4 to 5 p.m. is when Central Texans really need to be weather aware as the chances for severe storms significantly increases.
According to the 6 News Weather Team, the northern region of Central Texas appears to have an enhanced risk for severe weather on Wednesday. Areas south of Temple and Killeen are just one step below at a slight risk for severe weather.
With the threat of severe weather comes the risk of damaging winds, hail and the possibility of tornadoes. As of the time this article was written, there were no immediate threats of severe weather. However, this can and is expected to change later in the day.
Storms are expected to continue through the night as a strong front moves through the Central Texas area. The risk for severe weather could last up to around 4 a.m. Friday morning, so it's important to keep your alerts on as you head to bed.
Thursday: 30% chance for rain early. Mostly sunny with highs near 75° Wind: NW around 10- 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph
Friday: 30% chance for rain. Mostly sunny with highs near 82° Wind: S 5-15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph
Saturday: 20% chance for rain early Sunny with highs near 70° Wind: NW 15-20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph
Sunday: Sunny with highs near 80°
Monday: Mostly sunny with highs near 81°
Tuesday: Partly sunny with highs near 82°
