LIST | Roads closed in Central Texas due to flooding

The Texas Department of Transportation closed multiple roads across Central Texas because of the severe flooding.

WACO, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation responded to high water on roads all across Central Texas Sunday.

They put out a news release listing all the roads they closed or intended to close due to the flooding caused by torrential downpours through the early morning hours.

  • SH 174 bridge over Brazos River – traffic will be advised to use FM 933 in Hill County and FM 56 in Bosque County down to FM 1713 to cross over the lake
  • SH 6 near Valley Mills – northbound traffic being diverted to SH 317, southbound traffic to FM 2602
  • FM 56 north of SH 6 in Valley Mills
  • FM 413 in Falls County from FM 2413 to FM 1771
  • FM 2413 near County Road 257 in Falls County

TXDot said the closures will be in place indefinitely until the water subsides and the roads are safe for the traveling public.

The Coryell County Sheriff's Office took to Facebook to alert people of roads that were closed. One post at 10 a.m. showed FM 1829 between FM 107 and SH 36 completely overtaken by water.

The Cow House Creek Bridge on FM 116 at Pidcoke was also closed. Pictures from the scene show it was completely washed over and the asphalt was broken apart.

County Road 318 was also flooded. A video posted by the Coryell County Sheriff's Office showed a car nearly covered by the floodwaters.

The Woodway Police Department has closed the frontage road exit at the 24000 block of Westbound Highway 84 due to flooding. Police say the highway will remain open and TxDOT will be in the area assisting with detours.
