Woman killed in crash in Lorena had been reported missing out of North Carolina, police say

Police said the woman had to be freed from the vehicle and later died at the hospital.

LORENA, Texas — A woman is dead after a deadly crash in Lorena, Texas on May 11, police say.

According to the Lorena Police Department, the woman had been reported missing out of North Carolina.

Lorena PD said first responders received a call about a single-vehicle crash on IH35 SB around mile marker 322 around 8:23 a.m. When officers arrived, they reportedly learned that the vehicle's only occupant, a woman, had suffered "life threatening injuries".

Police said the woman had to be freed from the vehicle and Lorena Fire personnel performed first aid.

The woman was taken to Baylor Scott & White by American Medical Response (AMR) where she died, according to Lorena PD.

During the investigation, police said the woman was identified as Jatana Guinzy, who had been reported as a missing person out of North Carolina.

Lorena PD said the investigation is ongoing as they work with North Carolina authorities to "piece together the circumstances" of the situation.

No further information has been given at this time.
