WACO, Texas — The City of Waco is celebrating the culmination of years of work, with a ribbon cutting commemorating the completion of over 12 miles of improvements to I-35 in the city.
The improvements were led by the Texas Department of Transportation, and were reportedly completed ahead of schedule.
According to the city, these improvements include:
•24 bridges removed
• 18 bridges reconstructed
• 12+ miles of ADA-compliant sidewalks added
• 12+ miles of reconstructed and widened main lanes and frontage roads
• 30+ miles of drainage added
• 8 crossings upgraded with U-turns, pedestrian & bike access, and improved lighting
The City of Waco thanked citizens for their patience during the construction.
