MCLENNAN COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation and its contractor will start a project to construct new overpasses and approaches on SH 31 near Axtell on Monday, Aug. 12, the department announced.
TxDOT said the new overpasses will be constructed over FM 2311, and will "enhance safety and improve mobility" at the intersection.
Various lane closures and traffic impacts will take place during the project, said TxDOT. The project is reportedly scheduled to be completed in 2026.
According to TxDOT, the project is estimated to cost around $16.2 million and is being undertaken by Big Creek Construction LTD.
