TxDOT to host meeting at Rogers High School about I-14 extension project

The meeting will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, July 11 at Rogers High School.

ROGERS, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is seeking input on proposed improvements on a multi-state project that will connect Texas to multiple other nearby states.

TxDOT says the improvements will create better mobility, connectivity and safety between urban and rural areas, military installations and more.

"It's a multi-state route that will run through Texas all the way to Georgia," Jake Smith, Public Information Officer for TxDOT's Waco District, said.

The meeting will be held at Rogers High School on Thursday, July 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the cafeteria. A virtual option for those who cannot make it will be available.

"Those who are attending in-person can expect a lot of data, a lot of information, maps, schematics, but a lot of good information," Smith said. "And, just as important, an opportunity to speak to TxDOT personnel consultants about the project, provide their feedback, their questions, their concerns."

Some of the proposed extensions along US 190 and Highway 36 include an extension project from Highway 95 to BU 190, which will also be referred to as "Segment 3."

"We're in the early stages of this project, and at this time, we expect construction around 2030," Smith said. "That may seem like a far time away, but we are still in a critical component of the process, which is eliciting that feedback from the community and a part of delivering the best project for the community."

The corridor is part of a larger project that will extend I-14 from Belton to BU 190 in Rogers.

TxDOT says there will be no formal presentation for the public meeting, but displays will be available for those in attendance to examine. Click here to view the materials or search "I-14 Extension" on the TxDOT website.

Comments and feedback received until July 26 will be considered as feedback for the propositions. There will be a comment form at the meeting for those in attendance to leave their thoughts, but there are other ways to provide feedback, including:

  • Emailing LMUNSH-C@txdot.gov
  • Mailing comments to I-14 Extension - Segment 3 Project team at 1608 W. 6th Street, Austin, TX 78703
  • Online by searching "I-14 Extension" on the TxDOT website
