TxDOT's project is scheduled to start promptly at 9 a.m. on Monday, December 18th, with the expectation of completing the work on the same day.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation is set to start a safety enhancement project on Monday, Dec. 18th.

TxDOT's project is scheduled to start promptly at 9 a.m. on Monday, December 18th, with the expectation of completing the work on the same day.

This project is aimed at improving traffic safety on the I-35 southbound frontage road. This project will focus on the stretch of road spanning from the 5th Street U-turn to 6th Street in Austin, Texas.

Due to the project, there will be temporary closure of the northbound to southbound U-turn at 5th Street. Additionally, an inside southbound frontage lane will be temporarily unavailable for use, impacting the area between 4th Street and 6th Street.

TxDOT urges all drivers passing through the affected area to prioritize safety during this project. Drivers are reminded to fasten their seatbelts, maintain appropriate speeds, and eliminate all distractions while navigating through the designated work zones.
