CORYELL COUNTY, Texas — Three people were taken to the hospital with "incapacitating injuries" following a head-on crash in Coryell County on March 2, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

DPS stated that they responded to a report of the crash on State Highway 9 around 11:55 p.m.

According to the lead Trooper investigating the crash, a Honda Scion driven by a 24-year-old man from Killeen was traveling eastbound and an Audi driven by a 19-year-old man from Copperas Cove was traveling westbound on SH 9 when the Honda "failed to drive in their lane", crossing into the path of the Audi and causing the two vehicles to crash head-on.

Both drivers were taken from the scene with "incapacitating injuries", said DPS. A female passenger in the Audi was also reportedly taken to the Baylor Scott & White ER with injuries. DPS stated the passenger was not wearing a safety belt.

DPS reported that both drivers are believed to have been impaired at the time of the crash.

According to DPS, the crash investigation is still "active and open". No further information has been given at this time.
