Fort Hood officials announce temporary road closures

FORT HOOD, Texas — South Range Road on Fort Hood from 53rd Street to Murphy Road is temporarily closed due to heavy smoke in the area, according to The Directorate of Emergency Services. 

The smoke was caused due to fires burning on small-arm ranges in the southern training areas, according to Fort Hood officials.

There are no immediate threats to buildings or employees in the area, according to officials.

Fort Hood officials ask drivers to be aware of the road closure and take extra time and caution when driving through the smoky areas.
