Crews to perform reconstruction on Old Waco Road in Temple starting Aug. 19

The City says the traffic diversion is expected to last through Sept. 20.

TEMPLE, Texas — The City of Temple will be diverting traffic beginning on Monday, Aug. 19 as a result of ongoing reconstruction on a part of Old Waco Road.

The City said construction on Old Waco Road from Tarver Drive and Jupiter Drive to Riverside Trail will include a "temporary traffic diversion" on Old Waco Road between South Pea Ridge and Riverside Trail. The diversion will include two-way traffic being directed onto a temporary roadway just south of the existing Riverside Trail, according to the City, and then being directed back to the existing lanes of Old Waco Road.

The City of Temple says the diversion is expected to last through Friday, Sept. 20. Two-way traffic on Old Waco Road will reportedly continue through the time of the closure, and Old Waco Road in the area will remain "open and accessible."

There will also be another "temporary traffic diversion" on Old Waco Road at Hogan Road starting on Tuesday, Aug. 20, according to an update from the city on Tuesday, Aug. 13. The diversion will affect two-way traffic onto a temporary roadway at the Old Waco Road-Hogan Road intersection while the road work is being done.

The intersection will become a three-way stop while the diversion is implemented and stop signs for northbound and southbound lanes will be put in place. The city says the new diversion will run through Friday, Aug. 23, and two-way traffic on Old Waco Road will remain in place while the changes are taking place.

Drivers are asked to drive carefully and obey traffic control devices.
