HAMILTON COUNTY, Texas — SH 36 in Hamilton County could soon be a "Super 2" highway, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.
TxDOT's Waco District said it will begin a road rehabilitation project on SH 36 beginning on Monday, Nov. 4.
The project will reportedly widen portions of the roadway by adding passing lanes, and crews will perform a mill and inlay to rehabilitate the pavement.
TxDOT said the project will span from the Comanche County line to US 281 in Hamilton.
After the project is complete, TxDOT said the stretch of SH 36 through that corridor will become a "Super 2" highway, with periodic passing lanes in both directions allowing safer travel for drivers.
TxDOT said the project will be undertaken by Big Creek Construction, LTD., for approximately $18.2 million, and is expected to be completed by 2025, weather permitting.
During construction, there will reportedly be various daytime lane closures.
