Road work to cause closures on Elms Road and Chantz Drive in Killeen beginning July 16

The closures are reportedly expected to take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through July 30.

KILLEEN, Texas — Milling and overlay operations will cause lane closures along Elms Road and Chantz Drive in Killeen beginning on Tuesday, July 16, according to the City of Killeen.

The City said its Public Works' Transportation division will be performing the operations through Tuesday, July 30.

The work will take place on Elms Road from Clear Creek Road to Winfield Drive and from Old FM 440 to Fort Hood Street, and on Chantz Drive from Stan Schlueter Loop to Pepper Mill Hollow.

The City of Killeen said the work includes asphalt overlay and milling services, which will cause various lane closures throughout the day. Entire road closures may also be possible.

The City said the closures are expected to take place from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, weather permitting, and roads will only be open to local residents and local traffic at that time.

Traffic control devices will reportedly be in place to guide drivers. Drivers are encouraged to "use caution, obey traffic control devices and consider an alternate route".
