NOLANVILLE, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation will temporarily close the eastbound lanes of I-14 between Paddy Hamilton Road in Nolanville and FM2410/Simmons Road in Belton the night of Aug. 18.
Eastbound I-14 traffic will remain diverted to the frontage road, South Central Texas Expressway, at Paddy Hamilton Road and reenter I-14 just east of the Simmons Road intersection in Belton. Northbound and southbound Simmons Road cross traffic at the South Central Texas Expressway in Belton will be detoured east and west as necessary, according to TxDOT.
The closure is scheduled for the night of Aug. 18 starting at 7 p.m. and ends the following morning at 7 a.m., TxDOT reported. The temporary closure will allow crews to conduct repairs to existing columns supporting the bridge structure, at the Nolan Creek crossing.
TxDOT said drives should expect additional traffic control, congestion and delays along the route. TxDOT also cautioned drivers to be alert for traffic control personnel and construction equipment in the area.
The department encourages all motorists to be safe and drive smart in work zones: slow down, pay attention, eliminate all distractions, and watch for road crews.
