TEMPLE, Texas — Construction is set to begin on phase three of the City of Temple's North Outer Loop project on Monday, Feb. 12, and according to the City, it will cause various closures along Moores Mill Road.
The City of Temple stated in a release that the portion of Moores Mill Road starting on the east side of Brewster Road to the east side of the BNSF railroad crossing will be closed due to bridge construction.
The portion of Moores Mill Road from Wendland Road to Brewster Road will reportedly remain open while southbound and eastbound lanes are under construction, and the remainder of the road from the east side of the BNSF railroad crossing to Pegasus Drive will remain open for resident access but not through traffic.
The City of Temple says construction is approximated to last until October 2025.
The Outer Loop project is planned to connect Interstate 35 in North and South Temple and improve mobility on the West Side, said the City.
The main project is broken up into North and West projects and will reportedly create a four-lane road with a raised median, bike lanes and pedestrian trails.
Phase three of the project will reportedly widen and realign Moores Mill Road from a two-lane rural road to a four-lane divided arterial with shared-use paths and drainage improvements to include an elevated bridge structure at the BNSF railroad crossing.
Anyone with questions or feedback about the project can contact the City of Temple Engineering Department at 254-298-5660.
