TxDOT to close lanes on U.S. 84 in Waco for median installation

TxDOT said the project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.

WACO, Texas — Beginning on Tuesday, Aug. 6, crews will begin work on a project to install raised medians on U.S. 84 in Waco, announced the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).

TxDOT said the project will install the medians from 6th Street to 8th Street. The installation will reportedly require closures of the inside lanes in each direction within the project area for the entire duration of the project. Drivers are told to expect delays in the area during peak drive times.

TxDOT said the project is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year. The installation of a continuous median will "enhance the safety" for drivers in the area, said TxDOT.

The project will cost around $300,000, according to TxDOT, and will be undertaken by Encino Landscape, Inc.
