CORYELL COUNTY, Texas — A 32-year-old Waco man died in a crash in Coryell County Monday that was caused by hydroplaning, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS).
Around 5:59 p.m., troopers were called out to SH 36, about 3.5 miles east of Jonesboro, because of a crash involving a 2016 Ford F-350 and a 2015 Chevrolet truck.
Troopers say the driver of the F-350 was going too fast on the wet roadway while traveling west on SH 36. Troopers say the driver then hydroplaned and crashed into the Chevy that was going east on SH 36.
According to DPS, the rear seat passenger of the Ford died in the crash. Troopers identified him as 32-year-old Gerardo Gonzalez-Rocha.
The drivers of both the Ford and Chevy were taken to the hospital in Temple. The extent of their injuries were not released.
No other information was released at this time.
