DPS: One dead after ATV-Truck crash in Coryell County early Saturday afternoon

According to DPS, the crash occurred when the man driving the ATV failed to yield right of way and pulled into the path of the truck that hit him.

CORYELL COUNTY, Texas — An 82-year-old man is dead following an ATV and truck crash that took place Saturday afternoon, according to DPS.

Around 11:28 a.m. that day, Texas DPS Troopers were called about a crash on State Highway 36 in Coryell County involving a car and ATV. According to officials, Rodolf Carl Drosche, 82, of Gatesville, was driving a Honda ATV to get some mail at a rural mailbox on a private drive and failed to yield right of way to a 2012 Dodge Ram truck driven by a 64-year-old Gatesville man and pulled into the truck's travel path.

The truck was traveling eastbound when the collision occurred, according to DPS.

Drosche was taken to Hillcrest Hospital in Waco and was pronounced dead by medical staff. DPS says an investigation into the crash is active and open.
