HAMILTON COUNTY, Texas — Six teenagers were injured after their truck rolled over in Hamilton County last Thursday, Texas DPS said.
Texas DPS were called out to CR 101, just about a mile north of McCaleb Lane, around 11:45 p.m. in response to a single-vehicle accident.
During investigating, troopers learned that the 17-year-old male driver was traveling northbound on CR 101 at an "unsafe speed" and lost control at a curve on a gravel roadway, per a news release. The driver overcorrected and the truck collided with a culvert, which caused it to rollover, Texas DPS said.
A second 17-year-old male, who was the passenger, was ejected and partially pinned under the truck, per the news release. The teen was removed from under the truck by fire crews and transported to Baylor Scott and White ER in Temple, Texas DPS said.
Three of the teenage passengers, including the driver, were transported to Hamilton ER for possible minor injuries. Another teen was transported to Baylor Scott and White and the sixth teen was transported to the McLane's Children's Hospital in Temple, Texas DPS said.
No other information was released about the crash.
"Texas DPS would like to remind drivers and passengers to always wear your safety belt. Wearing your safety belt will greatly reduce the probability of being seriously injured or killed when involved in a traffic crash," DPS said in a news release.
